When making friction calls I would use spring clamps when gluing my soundboard on the pedestal. I had problems with the soundboard cracking or sometimes the soundboard sliding over making contact with the side of the call. I turn a jig on the lathe that fits over the soundboard and keeps it away from the side of the call and allowing you to get the soundboard centered perfectly each time you glue it on the pedestal. I have attached a few photos. Hope this helps some of you all. Stoner

:up1:  Very nice work!  I like it!

I use toothpicks on the edges of mine, but I don't make calls where you can see the soundboard either.

There is no doubt the quickest way to kill a nicely made call is to let the sound board slip over and glue down while it is touching the side of the pot.

Really, really nice.   :thanks:

I have found that Lows and Home Depot carry soft plastic spacers for laying tile. They come in a varity of sizes and are shaped like a Plus sign. I take a razor knife and cut one leg off to make it T shaped. After applying my goop i use 5 of the T shaped spacers evenly spaced around the glass to keep the sound board centered and a spring clamp to keep it held tight and in place until it cures. Just thought I would share my .02 whille we were talking about it...
