Al, about 3 years ago my brothers were cutting down part of a shelter-belt that was planted by us (as helpers) in the mid 60's. The trees were Honey Locust, Russian Olive, Cedar & Sandhill Plum. I grabbed the chainsaw & cut several chunks of all of it. The locust became my favorite wood in a short amount of time. It is a very hard wood with beautiful grain. It seems to attract the worms for some reason. You will darn sure learn tool sharpening as you turn it.
Off all the calls shown the Bubinga, Cocobolo & Birdseye Maple is the only purchased wood. All of the other is with the help of the chainsaw. The aspen came from close to the cabin in CO. Can someone tell me what the really dark jagged line is that shows on the 3rd call in that pic?
