Woodpecker: What's the reed?
« on: March 01, 2009, 09:50:13 AM »
  I went through the reed list on here, and didn't see pileated woodpecker listed on any of them.  Does anyone know the JC products reed model I'm looking for?  If you have 3 or 4 you would part with, I would trade you LVDR-005's for a couple.  I need to come up with some on the next week, so I'll buy a few if no one has any.

Thanks!   :2up:

I didn't know jc reed made them. I'll be curious to see what they are. I do have to get some woodpecker reeds from Al one of these days.

Yep, there is one.  I may have to call them if no one knows.  I don't think they like phone calls much though.

I've got one in a commercial call here.......AS USUAL.....I WISH THEY WOULD MARK THEIR REEDS.   :turned:

No mic here, and at this point, my turkey call stuff is on the BOTTOM of all my hunting stuff.  It would be quite an adventure to come up with it.

I use a modified LA style reed set up, I can get a higher pitch with out a lot of volume.

Mark, I think they were talking about a mic, as in micrometer to measure the thickness of the reed.

What kind of sound are you trying to get?   Are you looking for a locator type call or a predator call?

I'm looking for a locator reed for turks.  Its a SUPER high-pitched reed.

:smartass:  Looks like I may have to do some digging and see if I can give someone in the know a phone call.

In that case the woodpecker parts Al sells should work fine.
