Sound board vs pedestal
« on: May 20, 2019, 10:33:04 AM »
I’m new to ALL of this turkey call making stuff. I’m just wondering which is the most critical. The playing surface and soundboard combination or pedestal height.  Trying to limit my trial and error

Yes  I guess sound boards and playing surfaces go to personal preference.  Thought maybe there was a general starting point for pedestal height but I can see that be personal preference also thanks anyway

Try changing one variable at a time. I have found that around 0.100" separation between the striker bottom surface and the sound board top surface works well for most combinations. Start with that and vary your pedestal height. Once you have a good sound then vary your sound board striker surface spacing to see if you can improve the sound further.
