Here's my first completed set with the sound and style I've been after.  I am going to change out the toneboard and make one out of antler.  I had to try something a little different with wood selection (it is cross-cut).  I'll see who can guess the wood type first.

Those are a great set of calls sir. Is the wood type cross cut sassafras?

Thanks guys.  Al, I'm trying to keep all of my calls consistent in style (hidden duck, goose, etc.).  That's where the coyote silhouette idea came from.

David, those were the two woods I had in my hand while trying to decide which to cross-cut.  I chose a third.  It does kind of look similar to locust now that you mention it.  It is a domestic wood.

Well done.  I like the shapes a lot.  Also like the reed choice.  I was going to guess locust.  Guess I was wrong before I started lol.

Elm it is.  Although not commonly used for calls, one of my longbows is made from the same tree.  The grain in the bow is really nice and made me a little curious how it would turn out in a call.
