Jobillo closed reed - First predator call
« on: January 04, 2016, 11:28:25 PM »
I'm not much of a predator caller, but my FIL wanted a call for Christmas.  Didn't have a shape in mind when I started, but this is what came out of it.  The left side of the call is belled out like a megaphone.  Cottontail distress insert

Nice turn and stock. What kind of finish is on it?

Thank you!  It's just a few coats of Woodturners Finish.  Goes against the rules of game calls and friction polish, but for the little bit this call will get used, i wanted to try it out.

Nice call Clint. I like the megaphone look.  What was that Jobillo like to work with?

I was amazed at how loud it was with that "megaphone" just using my lips to make noise.  Not sure if it will be too thin for hard use though.

I've only turned this and a whistle with it, but I remember it turning nicely.  Very smooth without a lot of open grain.
