If that is a piece of wood, I would go plant seeds. Did you color it or anything. That looks like some expensive acrylic I've been using only prettier. If you find out what kind it is, and I'm not joking, pm me, please. I would love to get my hands on some of that. Great looking call. I am supposed to go meet Steve Elmore of fowl language calls this weekend and to take a couple of my calls to maybe trade.(He dont know that yet.) He just won the Texas state calling contest in Katy, Tx. If he goes to world, I am going to ask him if he knows anyone needing a call supplier. Yuk yuk. Again, if you figure out what kind of wood that is,let us know. Beautiful

As far as I know Curtis, TurnTex originally came up with the worthless wood castings, if you do a little research you will find his tutorial on how it is made.  Google "worthless wood blanks" and you will find you can make these with just about any kind of wood.

This one was chunks left over of mesquite and a red tinted resin. Came out really dark. Going to pour some more this weekend. Just gotta get a better system down.

This call was cast  here in our shop. All of our worthless wood call blanks are. Never heard of anyone that sells them for calls.  The pen turners sometimes let a few go but most just pour for personal use too.
