Check out the International Association of Penturners casting forum.  They are the true gurus of casting.

I only use the oil paints because acrylic is a water based paint and it can hinder the curing process.  What I do is pour a small amount of pr into a little Dixie drinking cup about a 1/4" thick then mix in the amount of oil paint I want.  once that is mixed together at a smooth consistency with no major lumps of paint then I pout more resin into the cup and mix that together.   If you pour a cup full of resin then mix in your paint it will not mix in a good consistency and will be lumpy.
