acrylic irony
« on: August 16, 2014, 08:28:36 AM »
I was talking to Ernies wife Robin yesterday and she said they would have some new stuff today. They sure do. The irony is I have had a running battle with lung and throat problems for 7 weeks. Loose my voice or cant get a deep breath. After 5 weeks of antibiotics and steroids, my doc said to see a specialist. They gave me a 3 week out. could have died by then. for last 2 days felt great. I went to the shop and turned some acrylic calls today, using a double mask, jet dust collector and small industrial fan.  when I walked out, my voice was gone and my lungs really hurt. Guess my acrylic days are over unless I can get a cure. Maybe a respirator. I love acrylic. I'll still order some. I hope this doesnt make any one mad, but something else I thought was ironic. After the gutcheck controversy, even beartooth is starting to carry call bands, lanyards and .....poly inserts. :hysterical:They are trying to get into the rapidly growing duck call market. Check it out. I looked at a wood and acrylic combo at woodworld this week and they are asking 50.00 for one in the duck call section.wow.

I know this an old post but I found respirators really have helped me. I got the worst sore throats and headaches turning acetate in my shop. The respirator I just get a bad tatse in my out but the fumes dont bother me

Good thoughts. Here I was thinking acrylic would be better than wood since the wood can dust off in such fine particles that contain even smaller pores.
