Squirrel on Pear...
« on: June 02, 2013, 08:01:34 AM »

I turned this squirrel call out of a chunk of Bradford Pear wood a few months back.  The wood was from a tree a neighbor had me cut down many years back.  I came across it many years later, tucked away in the loft of my shed.  It had dried nicely, and looked interesting enough for me to give it a try on the new lathe.
As is usually the case with me, I let the call sit a spell as I procrastinated over what I wanted to carve on it?  Yesterday I finally sat down, carved it, and hand painted it.  Turned out pretty good.  Even the squirrels off the back deck seem to like it.

Thanks for looking!
