Anybody ever use any of the Mylar versions of the JC Product reeds? I know they have a built in Mylar sleeve, how does that effect the use of the metal sleeve, or does it use some other type of sleeve or set up? Or no sleeve at all?

Wont fit in a metal reed sleeve. I don't know how anyone else would do it, but I built a hawk call with one of those reeds with the plastic sleeve and stuck it in a piece of delrin and glued that into the call body. Seemed to work OK. I did step drill the body so there was a ledge so the delrin would never fall out of the call if the glue bond broke. So far, it works pretty good. I have that call around here some where. Where though is the question Hmmmmm.....

I sure wish there was a place you could buy one of every one of those reeds to try out. :P

I got a handful of them, they have a great sound, just curious as to how to stick a piece of wood around it. Tried it in a 9/32 hole and slid right through, didn't have time to try anything else. Being Mylar will CA glue hole it in place? Or will is not stick to Mylar?
Al, how did you glue it to Delrin? CA glue doesn't work or at at least I have never got it to work. Did you use epoxy?
At least I have another problem to solve?

I used devcon 2 ton epoxy. It is a staple around here. It is not the perfect solution, and if I had to do it again, I would use a dab of Goop. It remains flexible and sticks to anything. If that didn't work, try to find a tube of Shoe Goo at a Walmart store, that will stick to plastic.

Have it figured out.
Take a 3" long blank, drill out exhaust bore for 1 1/2"
From the mouth end using the Braz mandrel.
1. drill 3/8" x 1/2" hole for air chamber.
2. drill 17/64" x 3/4" hole for reed to be force fit into.
3. drill 13/64 x 1/4" hole, this works a stop gap for the reed
Call is ready to turn. Using the Braz mandrel it works real slick for drilling out the mouth end.
Sucker fit together neat as can be!!!!!!!!!!!!!
