thanks for the compliment. The first is cocobola and the next 3 are leopardwood. I finished them in oil and wax after reading a tutorial by AL.

Yep, nice looking finish on those calls. Following the master you can't go wrong. Nice work, and thanks for posting them.

Nice looking calls.  I like he design.  Simple, sweet, and right to the point.   Coyote Killers.  Yup - I have NO Doubt, those will put fur infront of you.  Good Job!

I am so alergic to Leopard wood is isn't funny.   First time I turned it, two days later I looked like a victum from a burn ward.   It is pretty wood though.  Wish I could turn it.  I don't even go near the bins where they store it when I buy wood.  Just a bit of the dust on me and I break right out.

I am following a post made by AL on another site. It has several coats of teak oil and waxed with carnuba

Has anyone tried the resin based friction wax on the Coco.....I have and can't seem to get it shiny.  I sand with Micro to 12000 and then apply three coats of the wax and polish with denim.  Shiny but not like I have seen Coco...

There are a lot of different things that folks use for finishing, but to me, the final step, and the one that really makes it pop, be it coco, osage, dymondwood, etc, is the buffing system. Buff with the Tripoli wheel, then the white diamond wheel, and then the carnuba wax wheel. I just love the finish you get.

Just my opinion, but for Cocobolo, not much can beat a CA finsih.   Rock hard, easy to apply, and very quick.  I have a tutorial planned for how I do it.  And just lke Braz said, afterwards, the buffing system makes it pop - I mean REALLY pop.

I have not tried a CA finish on Coco, but have used it quite successfully on some of the more porous woods, like mahogany and purpleheart. It can really help seal up the call and fill in all those little voids that make for a crappy finish. And yep, buffing is the cat's meow!

use rubber gloves when wotking with super glues... just peel the gloves off

But use the nitrile ones. They can handle the glue. The regular latex just melt.
