Title: Walnut & Osage
Post by: Evan @ CBC Custom Calls on December 29, 2017, 12:05:47 PM
Turned out my first couple of predator calls recently.  First was from a scrap of twisted walnut with CA finish.  Second is osage that is supposedly pushing 50 years old...I'm not sure if that's accurate, but it makes some incredible looking calls.  Both pieces came from a friend in Georgia that likes to trade wood for calls.  Needless to say, I'm more than happy to oblige!  Both calls were ordered by a friend looking to win a coyote tournament this weekend using only hand calls.  Thanks for viewing!

I like the third one best of all.   Try to get the tone board all the way in if you can, so the lip sits on the end of the call.  You can take a wooden dowl, cut a slit in the end, and wrap some sandpaper around it to make a sort of reamer to fit them more precisely.

Nice looking callers either way!   Good work.

Thanks for the tip, Al!  I'll give that a try next time.
