Title: Call bags and boxes
Post by: FDR on October 16, 2014, 08:54:20 AM
Anyone have a source for Reelfoot size call bags and boxes? The boxes should be about 7 inches long and about 2X2 inches deep/wide.

Hey Fred, this probably doesn't help much but my set-up boxes are 2x2x6.5.  They are large enough for all of my calls except my flutes.  I have a special dye cutter when I reorder a minimum of 1000 boxes from the Catawba Box Company.  I spent 6 months years ago trying to find quality and price.  2x2x7 sound perfect for Reelfoots, maybe you can get some other Reelfoot call makers to go in with you to make such a big order.  You could also sell some of them off to recoup part of the cost.  The shipping is really the killer with ordering them.  As far as bags, I sew my own double draw-string fancy and camo bags myself and use braided nylon or decoy cord.  You could ask around and maybe someone can sew you up some in the size you need.

I use velvet bags from U-line, not a close fit but they work fine.

Fred... I've been looking for bags and boxes for my all-wood grunters which are about 7" long and have had no success.  If you do find a source, please share.  If there's enough interest in getting some made as Joe suggested, I'd be interested in buying some from you.

Actually they are 3" x 10", I think that's probably to long for what you need.....

Have you all thought about using plastic tubes? Here is a link. If we were to get a giant order together we could get them fairly cheap. You can put a sticker on the tube maybe a card  on the inside.

I  believe supplying a quality set-up box with your labeled name and a double-draw string call bag makes selling your calls look more professional.  Besides a unconditional warranty and good service it only looks better to supply a quality lanyard with leather washers, call care and instruction use information with spare custom cut reeds and cork.
I got tired of paying at least a dollar per box and for lanyards.  I have been buying in bulk for years now at about half the price.

If anyone has boxes with no graphics or wants to go in on some nice boxes Id be interested. I mostly make duck calls and short reed goose calls.

the tubes made for fluorescent bulbs fit.  You just have to cut them to size and make an end cap.
