I am turning a blank of African Black Wood for the first time and was curious what type of Finish should I do.  Any suggestions

Good luck,

What kind of final look are you wanting?  Glossy or satin?

I really like a glossy finish.  I haven't tried CA yet so I'll need to practice on some scrap calls.  I have finished a Cocobolo barrel using Shellac, then Spar which turned out nice.

If you're looking for glossy, CA's unbeatable.

Let me know if you need a hand getting started on your CA, if and when you give it a try.  It isn't hard, but there's a lot more ways to do it wrong than there are ways to do it right.
