first little bowl
« on: April 05, 2011, 12:29:55 PM »
This piece of spalted hackberry was given to me to make a bowl.  Jared (he came with me to KC turnathon) said I could NOT build a call out of it!
So I went to work wasting good looking call wood.   :up1:  it turnewd out pretty good.  I used mostly scrapers, fun it you have other people wood to waste!

Very nice. I"ve been wanting to do one, but the last two I tried, both went sailing by my head about 1000  miles an hour, and I've just not worked up the nerve to try them again.

I had visions of it doing laps around the shop.  I pretty big tenon on the base and light scraper cuts to hollow it.  It was very dry, dusty turning.  Slow going and it got easier the more I turned.
