Ok, don't laugh. I don't have any clue if this is tiny or big, but I can tell you that it's my first. Shot the first day of our season at 15 yards with a #4 steel duck load 20 yards from my truck with quite literally no cammoflage on at all. I had stopped out where we had seen a few toms strutting the week before thinking that I may have time to get a nice short hunt in before dark. I walked out to the edge of the small clearing, and just before I could see into it, I heard a gobble come from my left that was really close. I pulled a pot call out that I got from Parker and did one little cluck with it and this guy came running up to see what it was.

I can't believe that I got my first one 10 minutes into the hunt on the first day! Here's the pictures for the contest, hope I did them right. The pictures aren't great, the spurs are about 1.5
" and the beard is just over 7".

Never hurts to have good luck the first time out!

Thanks for looking, good luck to all!

 Bob

That bird is a stud!!!!
I really don't look at the beard much when I look at a turkey the first thing I do is flip him over and check his spurs.  After you have seen a few you can tell just by looking untill then flip him over and try to hang him on a pop can sized limb by his spurs.  If he hangs you got a good one.

Nice one Bob!  I swear it is newbie luck in addition to a good call (shameless plug for VECtor).  Always seems newbies get their first bird right away and then they're hooked...Only to find out how hard the 2nd one is to get!   :duck:

  Nice bird Bob! Also to measure the beard you go with the longest strand in the beard and I see one hitting the 8" mark in the picture.

That's a good bird.  Super nice spurs.  I do have one question.  I the picture with the beard the ruler is backwards.  It looks to me that if it was a 12" ruler and it measured to 5" that would mean that it was a 7" beard because the it is counting down.  Might want to remeasure that one.

EDIT: Never mind I just reread your post and saw that you said it was 7".  I always look at pictures then read.  Sorry!  Never the less, it's a good bird.
