Ideas to get started Rules added
« on: March 19, 2011, 01:56:17 PM »
I know the Fla season kicked off today so we need to make it simple and fast.
My first question is do you want to have teams or do a individual entry/score?

I vote individual scores, beard and spurs length only no weight. And as I think it was you praire, post pics of the beard and spurs next to ruler.
If I can see it I can hit it, If I can hit it I can kill it.

Are we going to do Beard x 2 And Spurs x 10 = Final score?

I think thats what NWTF does but this will be minus weight.

Shane

And also if we all have a son or daughter can we put one in the contest or can we get a separate one for youth. Or possibly a extra contest will be to much. But, just a thought. I will donate a call for the youth contest.

Great idea Madarchery, about the dated piece of paper.
I just reread my earlier post and I meant that it was a good idea about the pic with ruler on beard and spurs per your suggestion praire. To me it kinda reads different. I'm not great with words and combine that with turkeys n tha brain and it gets worse.
Good luck to all

I think the dated paper is a great idea & I would also like to suggest every entry has THO in big bold letters. Maybe require digital photos be date stamped too.

T  H O

Beard & spur length should be enough. If there is a tie on 11.5" beards @ 11.5" there will still be a tie @ 11.5" X 10.

Since we're a call making site and call makers how about a pic of the bird taken with the call that would have been made by a member of THO call forum. Any called in bird by such a call is a trophy in all aspects for sure so I would say a random drawing of all submitted entries for a named top pick is so desired for whatever reason.   *EDIT*--I just noticed after posting already listed in the topic heading is-"Big". No need to consider my thoughts.

OK Here's what I'm thinking so far.

#1. All entries must be from the 2011 spring turkey season.

#2. All entries must be of a Lawfully taken turkey and hunter must have the proper state required tag & permit.

#3 All scores will be based on Length of Spurs X 10 + Length of the Beard X 2 = Final Score

#4. You may only post your largest bird for score entry. (only one entry per person)

#5. All ties will be broken by the bird that was entered and posted first.

#6. To enter a bird you must have the beard attached to the bird and the spurs attached to the leg and show proof of length as in a ruler/tape next to spurs and beards.

#7. Entries must be in the form of a picture showing proof of measurement, the date and THO Forum clearly printed on a piece of paper in the picture. Additional information is always encouraged.

#8. Winner will be determined by individual score.

#9. The board Admins and Mods will have the right to reject any entry that has been unlawfully entered. Any entry that has not adhered to State, Federal or these specific contest rules will be removed and entry will not have recourse against this board or it's members. By entering a bird into the contest you have agreed to these rules and respect the Boards Admins and Mods decisions.

#10. No need to pre-register for the contest just shoot your bird and make your entry as long as you are a member in good standing entries will be accepted from Starting Monday March 21 2011 to June 1st 2011. Birds shot before tomorrows start date maybe entered provided they are entered following these rules and guidelines.

#11. Winner will receive a Certificate from the THO Forum acknowledging the winner of the 2011 Spring Turkey Contest. You will also have the Bragging rites to attach to your signature line.

OK Fellow turkey hunters look at these rules and let me know what changes you may want to see here I will finalize these rules tomorrow and we shall start the contest tomorrow. So far Individual scores are winning if for some reason Team scores are the winner of the vote then I will change rule #8

Ok. So we are allowed to enter first bird shot. Or can someone enter the biggest bird. Will the biggest bird count over a smaller bird if killed by same person.

Shane

The bird you enter is your one and only entry. One entry per person. If you choose to hold out until you fill all your tags waiting on a bigger bird that's fine too. But you can only enter one bird. Once you enter that ONE bird your done entering and have to wait and see where you end up. Now remember earliest entry breaks ties.

this may be dumb but say its double bearded you add total length of the combined beards and multiply? or just the longest of the multiple beards?
Where's my turkey?

On multiple bearded birds you count all the beards.
