I don't know anything about the general. But I have a Delta 46-460 vs that is really sweet and is highly rated. It has a 1 hp motor, a reverse switch for sanding, easy to change belt for speed, very quit and smooth. It is $100- 200 cheaper than the general and more HP. The only thing I can see see it doesn't have digital read out. I got mine at rockler for 15% off last fall.
