Mesquite striker
« on: February 08, 2011, 09:55:33 PM »
I was working on a ring with some turquoise inlace that i got from craft supplies usa and had this striker sitting on the table just waiting to get glued together when a thought just popped into my head. I had to mix up way to much inlace for just one ring inlay and didn't want to waste too much of it and figured this stuff will harden so maybe it will hold a dowel rod in a striker head and look good doing it. I put some ca glue in first just to be sure then filled the hole with inlace and let it squeeze out around the dowel.

Thanks for checkin it out
Daniel

I like that. Plus it will be easier to see the striker should you drop it.

Pretty cool idea.  Nothing looks better with mesquite than turquoise inlay!  That inlace is fun stuff to work with aside from the smell.  I think it would look even better if you turned the inlace smooth and sanded and polished it up to match the contour of the striker.

KC, I agree. This was just a quick thing to get an idea of what it would look like. I will probably sand it down smooth later on and I will definatly be using the inlace some more, now I just need to make a pot to go with it.
