4 sided round candy dish
« on: January 28, 2011, 03:43:57 PM »
I slapped a 2x6x6 piece of Poplar on the lathe today & came away with this candy dish. The wood is typical Poplar & it turned like a dream.

Undercarriage.

A small wine glass I made a while back with a quarter for size.

Glen, that is really nice. I have some pieces of wood in my shop that I want to try a bowl. I've tried before, but when they went flying across the shop, scared me so bad I haven't tried it again. But I"m about ready to try again. And that little glass is smaller than I can see, let alone turn. Wow, steady hands.

Yeah but this bowl is refillable TCC!!     Thanks.  :up1:

Thanks Braz. This is only my 3rd turning of this type. I drilled a 1 3/8" forstner hole in the top. Put it on the expanding chuck & shaped & sanded the bottom. Took it off the chuck. Removed the chuck jaws & put the pin jaws on & tightened it onto the foot. Then I turned & sanded the top. No flying saucers!!     That little glass is really neat. They aren't that hard to make really.
