wood crow call guts

I made my 1st crow call guts today following huntncarves tutorial.
I've never tried to tune anything before.  Right now the pitch is a little higher than what I want.  Does anyone have any tips on how to lower it.
I also picked up some teak oil.  Will it be an acceptable finish for the toneboard?

Lengthen the reed or use a little thicker mylar. I like to use the same as I use for the goose calls.
