Oh yeah.....I have also used porous athletic tape on the guts to fit them properly when the hole is too big.  I try to stay away from this, but I use glue, and the glue bleeds through the tape and makes a perfect fit.

Yeah, different manufacturers have variying sizes. Sometimes not a lot, but just enough to bug you. I've gotten some that were 7/16 and those upto 1/2 inch and in between. The trick is figuring out what works best for you in different circumstances. Y'll have some gret ideas and I do believe, you might find them here and there in my future. :D
