ambrosia maple slate
« on: December 25, 2010, 01:17:59 AM »
Started this one Thursday night, finished it Friday night.  It is the first call from a huge piece of ambrosia maple that I bought at Woodcraft.....I never buy wood there but saw this 12" wide x 10' long piece and paid a premium for it, against my better judgement.  The call is slate over glass and is finished with three coats of tru-oil.  The striker has a pecan peg.

It isn't for a customer.  I'm trying to get some turkey calls made and ready to ship for those customers that inevitably call me a week before the season and want a call immediately and can't wait on something to be made for them.  Hope to have a couple dozen on hand by March, and it is safe to say a number of them are going to be ambrosia maple!

  What?!  That NEVER happens!   :innocent:

Great looking caller man.  I can't wait to see some of your work in person and play some tunes!
