flamed purpleheart
« on: December 01, 2010, 12:48:50 AM »
Made this one tonight.  Plain old purpleheart that I flamed and the color really popped.  Even the blackened spots have some purple in them when the light hits it.  The finish is countless coats of CA.  The band is aluminum (unpolished) with four copper pins.

Thanks!  I'm not sure if the purple will stay purple over time, as purpleheart tends to turn brownish.  Not sure if the CA will prevent that or not.  I used velvit oil on the toneboard and inside the barrel.

Very nice indeed....
Of all the things I've lost while call making...its my mind I miss the most.
