HMMMMMMMMMM.Corain crow mouth peace??

O.K. I may be crazy but I have some corain peaces about 1/2 inch thick.. I'm wondering if I do the double sided tape and then turn it.. ???

I'd be securing it from the outside with some kind of pressure, like tape around it, or a chuck around it. 

Better wear a face shield too.

I would make an extra long version, and literally glue the 2 ends.  Use wax paper in the mid section to keep that part from gluing itself together.  Turn the entire blank down to the size you want.  If you are doing one like Hunt Carve, go ahead and cut the O ring grooves, and the tenon end.  Have it all ready turned before cutting off the glued up ends.  Will it work as good as wood?  I don't know, it should, but I would guess the sound might be a little more crisp than wood.

I've played just a little bit with acrylic nibs for a crow call.  Some of the same challenges you'll face with corian I'm sure have been addressed - its brittleness for one. 

I did not use double sided sticky tape, but chucked the two pieces together and turned the tenon, which I then used to hold the pieces while turning the other end.  Drilling was done on the lathe during the original mounting.

Here is a quick photo of the small acrylic nibs I turned this way (incomplete polishing and with no reed!).  Haven't had the chance to play much with it yet, but Marvin is right.....a brighter sound will probably result with the corian.  - Arlan
