(moved) polishing acrylic question
« on: July 16, 2008, 03:57:54 AM »
Hey everyone.I was wondering how ya'll polish the exhaust on your acrylic inserts? I use the dow rod method ;) for my barrels and it works great. And I was thinking about doing the same for my exhausts but didn't know if there was a better way for the smaller sized holes?????Just wanted to see if you all could offer some suggestions on a good way to polish the inside of the exhaust channel.Any help would be greatly appreciated. ;D Thanks in advance.

I use a gun cleaning rod with dried baby wipes to polish mine. The .22 caliber swab is just the right size for my ton channels. I sand out to 1000 grit, and run mothers mag polish unitl it's clear as water.

Timber,

I drill my inserts on the drill press and have found that when I start boring the hole, if I keep the hole filled w/ WD-40 and let the bit run in the fluid I don't even have to polish the tone channel, it is clear as can be.

No problem,  I forgot to mention as well.  I run the DP at 300 rpm so I'm sure that is helping me as well.
