Are you talking the Tim Grounds Triple Crown guts?  They are $50 right off of his website.

You won't get money rich in this hobby.  The richness is in the culture, the craft, the friends you meet along the way, and being able to call in a wary game animal with a call that you made with your own hands.

SG,

Could you explain to us what makes those guts worth 50 bones to you?  What do they DO that others are not going to?

Any sound files by chance?

I think they come with a Chinese air compressor from Harbor Freight.  All you have to do is hit the switch.  Maybe they sound off with "Here Goose, here goose!"

They probably 'break' them in with that chinese air compressor. 5 minutes at 110 psi. and you'd have quite a groove in them...

Yep, I've got a feeling that is similar to how it is done.  I also wonder if a metal reed is used rather than mylar too though.

Dang it SG!  I was hoping you would tell me they were worth the 50 bucks so I could get my mommy to get me a set for Christmas for me to pop in a call! (seriously)

I think that the knowledge of knowing what call to make and when to make it; is worth far more than what any set of guts, no matter how expensive, could ever offer you.

sorry to be the party killer, but i'm sure if you talked to some 'experts', they would try to convince you they are worth it  :whistling:

  So far, me shaving the reed on an ECHO insert has satisfied my experts around here.

And THAT is pretty DURN BASIC!   :punk:

Ok, so here's what the big deal is over the Triple Crowns....

The Triple Crowns are actually CNC machined one at a time from FR4 (a fiberglass composite commonly used for circuit boards and such) and will never break in any further than they are new. They are a CNC machined copy of the broke in guts that Kelly Powers used to win the triple crown of goose calling. They have a nice deep drop, and when properly tuned up in a good call, they have an amazing range and vocabulary.

This won't mean much to the average joe, but to the few that can run the wee out of a call, or blow competition, they have all of the tools necessary.

Each set takes about 10 minutes to machine, so alot of the cost is machine time and materials. Neat idea, but not something I'd put in an average call.

thanks for educating me jester. i'm sure that in the hands of a comp caller they will probably sing like nobody's business. but like you said, for the average joe, there is no sense in spending the cash for it.   parker, i just picked up a set of echo guts and haven't tried them yet.  how do you like em?

Great Bob!  Now you've got me convinced I want a set!    :censored:

SG,  I like those ECHO's because they are easy to tune up.  Everyone says their ease of tuning makes it to where they don't have as good of a range as other calls, but we're still killing the crap out of geese with them in the midwest.
