some kinda carp I caught by hand while swimming close to the top of the water. Darned thing almost drowned me when I got a hold on it, but I wasnt gonna let go for nothing in front of my boys!! :rofl:

That sucker is HUGE!!!  I've caught drum before, but they weren't that big!!!  I bet that was a rush getting a hold of that baby! 

Looks warm there.  We've started wearing jackets and lighter weight long sleeve clothing around here.  I do miss the warmer temps of summer, but also look forward to the cooler temperatures for the fall hunting season that is fast approaching!

You won't get money rich in this hobby.  The richness is in the culture, the craft, the friends you meet along the way, and being able to call in a wary game animal with a call that you made with your own hands.

That is a drum for sure and a good one too.

Fyi: the popular saltwater fish caught in the gulf that is called a Redfish; drumroll please... is a saltwater drum. Same with the Speckled 'trout', the Black drum, Weakfish and Mullet, etc.

Many people claim that they are not good to eat, but if you soak the filets in a brine overnight before cooking. They taste as good as the Redfish.
