Finally went BIG! (TWO DAYS IN A ROW NOW!)
« on: June 03, 2010, 03:10:35 AM »
:2up:  AHHHHH!  50 pounds is the mark I'm always looking for, and today was the day!  We got a 23, 46 and 51!

My youngest boy in these pictures (The VECtor Inspector as he is known here locally) helped me bring in a 25 pounder last week.  This week, he got to help my buddy net and bring these bruisers in.

I can't wait for the day when we get one in the 60's.  I just can't imagine what the body make up of a fish that size will be.

AND NO.......I was NOT able to get both of those fish loaded on my shoulders by myself!   :sweatdrop:

Dude!!!!!!!!!!!!    :punk:  :punk:  :punk:  :punk:   These fish are enormous!!!!!!  That has got to be a huge rush pulling them hogs out of the water!  By the time that you get to them, how much fight do they have left in them?

You won't get money rich in this hobby.  The richness is in the culture, the craft, the friends you meet along the way, and being able to call in a wary game animal with a call that you made with your own hands.

Sometimes they go like mad Brian, and sometimes they have nothing left.  Imagine fighting a dog on a leash.  That's what it is like.

We boated ANOTHER 51 pounder today!  I'll get pictures and a story up a little later!

:claphands:  Long Branch got slapped up-side the face by this one!  :rof2:  REALLY!  :rof2:

Long Branch is usually the netter, and I told him today I was planning on handing the line to him if I felt something interesting on the line.

Our good lines from yesterday were blank.  Just a channel cat each.  So, we moved on to the next line, and I felt something a little odd.  Then, I saw a flathead tail come come up three hooks down.  Come to find out, it was not fanned out, so I thought it was pretty small.

Well, as SOON as I asked Long Branch if he had the line good, I felt the fish REALLLY wake up.   I said, "Whoa boy.  He may not be too small!"

And the fight was on!  :rof2:  :banana-man-yeah:

Our friend was on the net for us, and I just sat back and watched.

One of the fish's runs, she came up and slapped her tail out of the water, and THEN SLAPPED HIM IN THE FACE!     Knocking his glasses sideways on his face!

After a little while, the fish moved just right to where we could get the net on her.

:punk: Maybe we will catch her again tomorrow.  I doubt she will bite again that fast though.

What a good time!  One more line check tomorrow, and we've got "the season" whooped.   :up1:

EDIT!  WHOOPS!  She weighed in at 51 pounds!   :punk:  (He did NOT get that fish on his shoulder by himself!    )
