A Day in the Shop
« on: June 26, 2008, 03:23:51 PM »
I finally got the chance to try something that I've been thinking about for a while...I made my first all wood deer grunt,It's sounds really good(They do have a different sound than the ones with the plastic tube,I like it!)...This one is made out of Bubinga and walnut...I'll be trying it some other woods shortly...The other call is a walnut & Cherry laminate...I like the sound and looks of it too...Thanks for looking!

That looks as though you done one heck of a job on both those calls

I have made a couple deer calls all out of antler no plastic tube and the grunt you can get from those is just unbelievable.Just by cuping your hand over the end of the call.

Keep up the good work

Bill

Good looking grunt calls.  This version out sells my other grunt call 100 to 1.  I think last year we sold only one that had the plastic tube, in the last 3 years I think we might have sold 5.  I have no idea on the total of the all wood versions, but after they hear the wood version the plastic doesn't stand a chance.

First of all, welcome to the forum. You are going to find a great bunch of folks here that are all more than happy to give you any advise you want. Just watch them, as a lot of them are full of it, if you know what I mean.  ;D Glad to have you aboard.

Nice looking call. I have never made an all wood one and like the looks of them.

Thanks!I've been over on the other call site for a while...I've always found people to be very helpful and have learned a lot from them...I know Al has helped me a lot whenever I had questions...I'm going on my second year making calls and it seems after a while you start getting some wild ideas about some thing, gonna try some out soon...My next thing is trying to figure out how to make my own tone board...
