That's a pretty call!

Have you ever tied using a foster bit the same size as the lip on the tone board and sinking it in the call?   Makes for a cleaner fit sometimes and is not tht hard to do.

No bit, but I could do it while its on the lathe. Ive been doing my crow calls on the lathe with a small hollowing tool LOL
