One of my friends has made a couple calls out of petrified wood.  Probably 1/4" thick material.  They sound pretty good, and no doubt would kill turkeys, but they are a little high-pitched, and dead.

I have not played a 3" pot yet that could beat any of the top 10 best 3 1/2" pots I have played.

I know there are a lot of call makers out there that make 3" pots too.  They just not sound as good as a 3 1/2".

And then, you have to throw 3 1/4" calls into the mix too.

Obviously you've not played many 3" calls then.  Have you ever played a good 3 1/2" copper or aluminum?  Play them in a 3 and there is no comparison.  Even a mediocre slate in 3 beats 99% of the good 3.5" slates.

Just my .02 worth
