what would you recommend for a finish on this i normally use ca glue but i think that would be hard with the natural end

I pretty much dip everything in spar urathane, with the natural end I would say you would have to dip it with that end up. Or be real careful with the drips. That's one option anyway, with that end anything other that a dip or a spray finish you'll have a problem sealing the end. I'm sure someone will give you some other options I'm not a finish guru by any means.

I'd still go with the CA...just use a Q-tip and "dab" it on.
