crow call barrels
« on: January 20, 2010, 10:15:41 PM »
Is there anywhere I can buy a production wood crow call barrel that would just need to be sanded and finished?

Thanks for any advice,

Cliff

Lots of platic ones out there, but I'm not aware of wood ones.   Perhaps someone would make them for you?   But they really are not that hard to make on your own.   5/8 bore and a MT 2 taper at the mouth piece will do it.

:up1:  2MT reamers are not cheap, but they are worth it.

I cheat by using a 43/64's bit too.  This does not make the tip of the insert set perfect, but it is close enough to call turkeys......which is what we use my crow calls for.

The other thing you can do it look at turning down the crow call inserts and adding o-ring grooves.  The tutorial for that method is in Al's tutorial section.

To each their own.   :up1:

A tip for reamers you are going to use for wood..( this does not apply to MT2 reamers) buy the spiral flute reamers instead of the straight ones. They cut smoother.

Yes, I have crow call guts in the store.   Right now, we are moving the store to it's own domain.  We will be having a grand reopening on Sept 1st.

If you need some right away, shoot me a PM, I have a few in stock and can help you out if you need it
