first "successful" celtic knot
« on: November 18, 2009, 07:16:34 PM »

Hope the picture posts correctly

As the title says, my first "successful" celtic knot.  There have been a number of attempts that have been slung across the wood shop in frustration.  This is Purpleheart with Cherry.  I need to get a little better at cutting my inserts, didn't get the cherry bands the same thickness.  Oh well, I'm happy with how it turned out.  I was almost afraid to put it on the lathe after cutting, gluing and clamping for 5 days

Thanks to all who have posted on how to do this correctly.  I've learned a lot from this forum already.

For your first one, that is very nice.

Nothing wrong with that one. Getting the inlays the exact same size as the saw blade is the key to making it stay on track.
