In the Begining
« on: November 06, 2009, 10:15:59 PM »
Hello everyone.  I am new here and am interested in making myself a couple of laynards.  I have seen some posts referencing tutorials that are very helpful, but I cant seem to find them.  Any info as to where I can find them or any other resources that might be useful?  I have a little experience doing macreme.  I got started when I was about 12 and my whole house got the chicken pocks, so we dug out some knot books and went too it.  From that week on I cant remember there being a plant that wasnt hanging!

Thanks!

Welcome to the site.

Al is in the process of revamping the main site where all of the tutorials are located, so they were unavailable for a little bit while some website maintenance was being performed.

Here's the link for the wide braid lanyard:

Let us know if you need any help.  We'd be glad to help out.

You won't get money rich in this hobby.  The richness is in the culture, the craft, the friends you meet along the way, and being able to call in a wary game animal with a call that you made with your own hands.

BigB  Thanks for the info.  I got my cord the other day and have been itching to try and get rolling.  I will let you know how I make out! Thanks.

That's just what I need another hobby (addiction).  Something to spend time and money on.  All my stuff is sitting next to the computer, but between duck season and the leaves that need to be racked, I have no knots yet.

Thanks for the encouragement though!

Well, here is my first try.

I think it turned out good for a first attempt.  It is kind of long.  I only added a couple of rows in the middle, but it will work.  I also didnt have long enough ends at the bottom to do more than one dropper, but I am going to get either clasp or ring for the empty end.

I think my next one I am going to add some more middle cords and put a whistle clip and maybe a ring for a flash light or something.

Thanks for all the info and hopefully there is more to come!

Rob
