First acrylic barrel
« on: May 26, 2008, 05:33:42 PM »
I got a wild hair today, and decided to try out acrylic.   :P

I wish the photo would've turned out better, but a REALLY like how it polished up.  Had this chunk of black sitting here, so I decided to give it a whirl.

Took me about 4 or 5 times as long as what it takes me to turn a wood barrel.

And I threw an ECHO insert in it to top it off!   :D  ;D  WHAT A GREAT DUCK SOUND!   ;D  :D

I'm thinking I'm going to keep this one for myself.  Just got done turning an elk antler one too, but I don't know that it would hold up to the elements.

I love the style. I seem to mess up more acrylic than not. Get a chip and turn it out, get another chip and turn it out, then end up with a shape by default that's usualy nothing llike i wanted. It takes a steady hand and a light touch to turn that stuff, well done !

;D  Its taking in some finish.  I'll see if its ready for a picture tonight.

If you're interested in trading one of your predator calls for this one, I'd be up fro it John.  I'm trying to get it sealed up to where you can blow air through the antler.

:-\  You may have to put your order in for something else.  I'm not happy with this antler not sealing up.  Any thoughts?  I tried to fill the pores with CA, but it didn't seem like that was working.  I like the way it looks, it just takes a lot of air to run.

Well I did some looking and this one has the best sound. If you are interested in it. If you fix the call or want to trade a different one it's fine with me. I'm easy going. If you want to do a trade just pm me your address.
