Pentel Pencil
« on: May 25, 2008, 09:40:29 PM »
Spent a little time transforming a Pentel pencil into a wooden Pentel pencil.  Made up a special mandrel and a special drill bit to make this littler jewel.  All of the info is available on the penturners site, the original version of this was made by Don Ward of Wichita Falls, Texas.

Here are the before and after versions, walnut with a little sap wood with a friction polish finish.

That looks good. You guys amaze me how you can turn those pens down so small.

Very pretty Marvin. I think I would like to try that. Which pen site was that posted on?

Go to penturners.org and check out the library.  In the library is list of all of the articles then look for Pentel pencil by Don Ward.

Find the link on penturners.org they are real simple to make.  Put it this way they better be, last year I made rifle case pens for a Vietnam vets reunion, this time I am making these Pentels with Osage orange and black burn lines to signify the colors of the First Air Cav patch of yellow and black.  I have about 40 of them to crank out as gifts to the guys that were in my Platoon when I was the Platoon Leader.  Then I have to make a few more for some of the other people that were in the Company and some of the families of the guys that did not make it home.
