Two new ones
« on: October 07, 2009, 12:05:39 AM »
Here's two recent calls.  The first is curly claro walnut.  It is the first duck call that I've officially sold.  I've given a lot of them away though!  Average volume and good sound out of this call.

The second is lignum vitae.  The insert goes in a bit too far (still struggling with that) but man that call sounds awesome even though it looks goofy.  The bitter smell and taste of the lignum vitae is a bit of a challenge to get used to when blowing it but I like the look of it.  This call gets LOUD.  I'm pretty sure that has to do with the wood being so dense and hard.

Wonderful classic design.  Geez I really like classic calls  :up1: Both calls look really well turned and sanded.   Nice detail.   You got a couple of winners in the looks department for sure.

Great job!

Thanks guys.  I appreciate the positive comments.  The only thing I'm really trying to work on is an insert shape that compliments the curvature of the barrels.  I like my barrel shape but I'm afraid that my inserts sort of resemble Echo's inserts, purely by accident.  Side by side they aren't dimensionally the same and I don't burn lines in mine or follow the same angle at the chamfer but I want my stuff to be original.  I guess there are only so many ways to skin a cat but I don't want my calls to look like a knockoff of a commercially available call.  Thoughts?
