Hand me downs..
« on: April 23, 2011, 09:44:33 PM »
I was at my Dads house the otherday, and he laid this on me!! I am kinda proud of it as he has had it put up for many years! I plan on putting it up just as it is behind some glass to keep the dust off of it! It is a 1909 Charles Perdew Crow call.

I'd gladly take a hand me down like that any day!!!  I've seen some Perdew calls go for some big bucks on ebay.  You've got a real treasure right there!

You won't get money rich in this hobby.  The richness is in the culture, the craft, the friends you meet along the way, and being able to call in a wary game animal with a call that you made with your own hands.

Very nice!
Care to give any more details?
Looks like metal band on the exhaust?  Maybe cedar body and walnut boards?
I don't know much about Perdew calls just geussing.

Sorry Highlooker, it is a cedar call with a brass decorative band. Not sure the prupose of the band on the bottom other than decoration? Not sure of the material on the mouthpiece or the reed, I assume it is a brass reed but i do not want to try and disassemble the call to find out. I will try to do some more research on it when I get more time.. I just thought it was a nice gift and a real piece of history!
