maple burl pot
« on: July 04, 2009, 01:04:40 AM »
Here's one I turned today.  It has one coat of spar finish and will be getting a couple more.  It is maple burl...I enjoy the challenge of turning it because of all the little inclusions and voids that have to be filled with CA glue as you go.  This one had several small voids in it, but nothing too big.  I'm waiting for a piece with a nice big cavernous void to try out epoxy and coffee grounds as a filler.  I did that on a bottle stopper once and it made a neat effect.

I traded this one for a new stabilizer for my bow with the owner of Posten Stabilization.  He'd bought one of my calls a few months ago for a friend and they took a couple birds with it.  He's been saying he wanted one for himself but hadn't pulled the trigger yet...My offer to trade for one of his stabilizers was just the ticket!

Bad pic, I know....

:2up:  Sweet pot!  I think both of you probably came out pretty good in that trade!

Thanks y'all.  Two coats of spar down, at least one more to go.  Then we'll see how it sounds!
