 Does the spalting make the wood softer than regular maple? Does it change the sound in your opinion?

Thanks for the comments everyone. HaMeR, it does make the wood a little softer in some spots, but I put some thin CA glue on it and it makes it a lot harder. I don't think it changes the sound much at all.     Ryan
