Owl call with a duck insert?
« on: April 26, 2008, 10:06:22 PM »
Anyone know enough about making owl calls to put a tutorial on how to do with with a duck reed insert similar to Al's 5 minute predator open reed?  I sure would like to owl hoot at turkeys with my own call.

ain't nuttin' to it
get rid of the radius
straight across the toneboard like a box
leave the channel as is atleast 1/8 if not more from the end
use a 14 reed, cut it straight across
restrict the exhaust to  get the desired hoot
when running the call, wind it up loke a predator ............. hoot hooot hoooooot
sounds like a sick rooster

Great deal.  Thank you Bill.  I really look forward to giving it a try.

can you give me any tips on hand positioning, and what to say into the call, how far to have the reed from your mouth, exhaust size, all that kinda stuff?  I'm completely ignorant about this kind of call.   :P
