first attempt at duck calls

Based on the great instructions from BigB here are some pics of my calls and some future pens from elk antler.
this is the first hope the people that make screwdriver handles dont sue me!

This is the second it is also from cocobolo it is finished with BLO and CA (super glue)

Critiques - comments - and wise cracks always welcome

Hey, I like those screwdriver handles.  ;D I think they look good. I am partial to the clean lines. Nice work. And those pens are going to look great too. I have made them from blacktail and mule deer antlers but never from elk. Would have to buy the elk and don't want to do that. Looking forward to seeing the pens when finished.

Those are some very nice calls wj!! I would like to see the finished pens too. If things go right I might get to try some ivory for a couple pens.  ;D

Different then the "typical" duck call.

What I like best is the use of the mirror.  That is a neat idea to show off both sides of the call in one photo.  And good looking calls too!!
You won't get money rich in this hobby.  The richness is in the culture, the craft, the friends you meet along the way, and being able to call in a wary game animal with a call that you made with your own hands.

Look pretty good to me!  Nice look pen barrels too.  Love the way you photgraphed everything also.  That is creative!

Thanks for the good words.  The mirror works well and it is easy to change your background color.  I use construction paper set vertical behind the subject.

The calls look good. I like to use elk antler for bands on my duck calls. I stole the idea from Mike Stelz, and proud I did it too ;)
