Hey guys I have recently got in to call making. I would like to know the advantages or disadvantages of a collet Chuck vs a four jaw Chuck. Also where is the place that has the best bang for your buck on mandrels

4 jaw has little precision. Good for rounding and drilling blanks and similar tasks.

Collet chucks have much higher precision and are great for turning and drilling inserts once the tenon is turned. You can also old a straight shank barrel mandrel in one.
There's a duck call in that block of wood. I just have to find it!

I also run the PSI collet chuck and have been satisfied with it.

For expanding mandrels, I use either Webfoot or Breakheart.
