Good Carbon for strikers
« on: April 03, 2018, 12:55:56 PM »
I bought some striker carbon from Grassy Creek or Brookside ( cant remember), but the carbon seems to be really soft. When I tried using it, it kind of flattened on the side I was using and made the call have a low dull sound. Does anyone know where to get good hard carbon rods for strikers?

I've not built a carbon striker yet, but I used to build a lot of stuff out of carbon fiber.

When I did, I bought much of my carbon rod and tube from Kite suppliers. Kite builders use all sorts of different shapes of rod and tubes, and the tubes have varying wall thicknesses.
There's a duck call in that block of wood. I just have to find it!

Try a carbon arrow shaft.

Thanks for the replies. I thought of maybe trying a carbon arrow shaft, but I was thinking that the wall thickness would be too thin. I never thought of a kite supplier. I will give it a try.
