Duck call inlay
« on: April 02, 2017, 10:18:19 PM »
Need a little help. I put a acrylic inlay and aluminum on the barrel and insert of a piece of walnut cut the grooves and glued it on with JB weld 5 minute epoxy and my son put it on the lathe and in a few minutes the inlay came off the barrel and the aluminum started turning on the insert. Is it from getting to hot. Thanks

Any epoxy will heat up somewhat but the old cure overnight JB welds will hold up much better for what your are doing than the 5 minute stuff because it is just not curing out and hardening out in that period of time, if you let it set somewhat longer it may work better.
