Gobble call
« on: March 28, 2017, 09:59:44 AM »
Had a potential customer request a gobble shaker this morning. I've been making calls for a few years and this is a first. It isn't a call I use much, if any, and I've never had one ordered before. I told him to let me do some research and see what I can come up with. So.... does anyone know where I could find guts and such for this type of request?
Many thanks
James

The one i'm familiar with doesn't have guts per-say but a latex reed stretched over the tube opening. I think there are a couple layers of latex actually I can look closer when I get home.

Yes sir I'm familiar with those and thanks, I should have been more clear. He's wanting one of those gobble shakers. I've seen a primos and hs and they have a big rubber thing similar to a squirrel call on one end. I can't find anything like this so I think I'm gonna bow out.
Thanks again

Yes that's the style I'm referring too. I have a Quaker Boy gobble shaker, and it's latex reeds stretched over a frame.

I have made a large wooden chamber and used a fiercely bladed squirrel reed and a large squirrel bellow zip tied on to thr wooden chamber. Then double cup your hands over the end. Its not perfect, but its fun. Gonna take a certain type customer to appreciate it. Easier to just buy a commercial call.

Ok thanks guys. Guess I'm gonna order one of those Quaker boys to see what it's like and play around with some squirrel call guts and see what I can come up with, not for this guy of course, but just maybe I'll be prepared by the time another request comes in for something like this.
