Copper pipe for goose guts?
« on: March 05, 2017, 06:53:55 AM »
Morning all,

I have a goose call to make and have a question. What size copper pipe could I use to install in the insert to keep it from splitting when The guts get inserted?

Thanks and have a great day,
             Greg

Carry a set of guts to lowes or some where that sales pipe fittings. I have used copper in the past but haven't made a goose call in so long I can't remember if I used a piece of 5/8'' pipe or a 5/8'' coupling. I know it took a little finesse to make it work.

Thanks. I think I figured it out. I'm thinking a 1/2 inch coupler will work. 1/2 inch pipe supposedly has an O.D. of 5/8 I'm at work so I can't check the guts in it right now.

Even if the label says 5/8" diameter it may not be exactly 5/8".  I buy 12" x 5/8" O.D couplings according to the label, but with the calipers it is actually 5/8" inside.  JCZ is right.  Take a set of guts and don't forget to take a reed also.
